Gilbert & George

Back in the echo chamber. TAR ART RAT found a BBC download of a new work by Gilbert and George, available for 2 days only here.

echo? echo?
an odd thing I thought that was- the download, I downloaded it myseld but to actually make it presentable you would brobably have to spend hundreds of € on a large high-quality print out and framing job or something... it crosses a boundary, though, presenting a digital file as a "rea" work of art. I signed a contract with a gallery in Second Life, (show hasn't happened yet and I am not sure if it ever will) but that itself raised a lot of issues: namely "if the "paintings" in second life are really just a digital file that can be copied and reproduced, then is there any individual worth to any sincgle one of those files?" same thing could happen with the Gilbert and George piece, I mean - after the 48 hours are up it will most likely then be available on countless other sites, right? hmmm...
